Editing Lesson Blog

Today is October 14, 2019, in today’s Media Studies class we had a detailed lesson on the whole process of using the video camera and the editing aspect of it. At the beginning of class we focused on learning how to use the tripod and connecting it with the camera. In learning this it was explained and noted that if any group wants to use their own phone to film. It is suggested that a phone adaptor to the tripod is to be purchased and used. Knowing this is greatly beneficial to our group as we will be filming with our phones instead of the cameras.

Furthermore, we were shown the whole process and procedure of checking out and checking back in the camera. We were instructed to fill in the “agreement” form and were proposed the idea of filling out numerous sheets at a single time, so that when the time comes we are already prepared and can swiftly go through the process at a fraction of the time. The “agreement” sheet is practically a paper that indicates the individual will be using the video camera and allows the person to know that they are liable to whatever happens to the camera as long as they use it.

Afterwards, we began to focus more on the editing, and were introduced to the app “Pinnacle Studios” this app is used to edit the footage which we will be taking. It is a pretty interesting app as it has many options on editing, but at the same time its pretty straightforward to use, as long as you paid attention. The app allows you to add music to your  footage, add transitions, and words to the video. Overall, we received a good lesson on the whole aspect of the procedure we will take to use the cameras and how we will be editing the footage we get.
